  1. 1. What should I do?

    • Stick with 1080p/60fps for now and wait for a price cut.
      13
    • Get 1080p/144hz for now (and not have high resolution for other non-gaming activities)
      3
    • 1440p , IPS , 60 Hz - for beautiful image at a low price, but both 144 hz version and 4k make it obsolete
      5
    • 1440p , TN, 144 Hz - great performance, highish price, will i forever regret buying a TN?
      4
    • 4K IPS 60 hz, so at least it dominates in some respect

don't get me wrong.  i make money.  but i also have other expenses, and i can't afford $600-800 for a monitor atm.  i also want to do recording studio work and some gaming.

is TN that bad?  is 144 hz worth buying yet another 1080p monitor for?  will gold standard (1440-144) monitors lower in price within the next year or two

either get the TN panel or stick to 1080p, i personaly dont have much of an issue with using a TN panel but they dont look as great as IPS so thats up to you entirely. think my main display as a VA panel right now and thats pretty nice, but its not like id mind swapping it for a TN panel with a higher refreshrate and preferably smaller size cuz 32" isnt really optimal for competative games lol

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Simple solution ... wait till you get more money for what you want to have and buy it then.

I wouldn't buy TN at all.

Don't get a tn panel if you plan on doing any sort of creative work on it that requires good color accuracy.

I think you'll have a difficult time driving 144fps in current games with your cpu/gpu combo.  My votes for 1440p 60hz ips.

Not sure where you live, but if it is in the US, you can wait till Black Friday/Cyber Monday for a sale. Unless you are in dire need of a high refresh rate 1440 monitor, just wait.

this is a great point.  i think in the longrun, ill definitely be wanting 1440p-1400hz-ips but at the moment, i would also need a $400-500 graphics card to make a $700 monitor worth it.  not worth it.

i think a 1440p ips 60hz can be had for $250.  it would be great for streaming, my home recording studio, and id be able to use my gtx 1060 to its fullest.

Agreed, just make sure it`s IPS.  I have the Benq GW2765 -- it's a great monitor that has gone down in price.  I bought mine a couple years ago for around $500 CAD, I think it can now be had for around $350.
