Kaspersky, but i disabled it while trying those "maneuvers"

Alright, back up all your data and then grab a USB and create an installation media using the Media Creation Tool. Instead of "Upgrade" select the other option (forgot the actual naming).

Then you can install that over your current Windows install.

Hi everyone,

I've recently noticed that my version of Windows isn't working very well:

each time i boot up my PC, it takes up to 30 secs of BIOS time, plus, basic stuffs like when i click on a folder, it isn't highlighted in blue like it should be...

i also noticed that it's been 2 months since windows last installed a security update, and the other new updates (not Office or Skype related ones) won't install and always fail.

Moreover, whenever i'm asked to restart my computer to update windows, i always get the message "update failed to install" or "some updates were not installed".dsd.png.0f5eafb5e32e251e36e90c59abfa16e5.png

What i tried yet:

-Reset my update Component

-trying to manually update windows from the Windows Download Catalogue

-restore a Restore point from 3 months ago, before it started to behave weirdly...

please guys i wish to avoid a full clean install of my OS

specs:

MSI GTX970

Asus Maximus VII Hero

Intel core i5-4690 w/ CM Hyper TX3

C:\  Crucial MX100 256GB

D:\ Seagate 1Tb

E:\ WD Blue 1TB

Cooler Master V750 80+ Gold

2x4Gb G.Skill RipjawX at 1866 MHz (DDR3)

Thank you for your time and please, help me

While I recommend a re-install, you can download the ISO for the FCU/1709, and do an in-place upgrade.

Re-installing would remove all documents and data. You can try an in place upgrade from 1703 to 1709 and see if that fixes it.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

No, it would not preserve anything. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Try the media creation tool first.

Regardless of the method, please backup first.

You'll need to use the Media Creation Tool since it's obvious your Windows Update is broken.

Download the Media Creation Tool and select upgrade

Do you have any 3rd party anti-virus installed?

Alright, back up all your data and then grab a USB and create an installation media using the Media Creation Tool. Instead of "Upgrade" select the other option (forgot the actual naming).

Then you can install that over your current Windows install.

What problems have persisted?
