I also plan on using a 250GB SSD from my old pc (same as the other SSD in this build https://www.pccasegear.com/products/30448/samsung-850-evo-250gb-ssd) and putting it in RAID 0 with the other SSD for 500GB of storage which Im hoping to put the OS as well as most games on. (Mainly asking if i've understood RAID 0 correctly, and weather putting my OS on it is a good idea.)

I think that's all I want to know for now,

RAID 0, without a proper, complete, backup, is a terrible idea, unless you're okay with losing everything.

Swap out the memory for this:

With $3000 I'd expect faster memory (although I don't know how well that RAM overclocks if at all.)

 

Raid 0 combines 2 (or more) drives into one combining the capacity and speed of both. Overall with 2 reliable new(ish ) drives you should be okay with raid 0.

Thanks, any particular reason for the GPU change? And would losing the RAID 0 setup with my OS on it be detrimental to my PC, i.e. Would it just mean re-installing the OS and anything on my SSD's or would all data be buggered. (Apologies if this doesn't make sense, haven't really rapped my head around the intricacies of PC's yet)

Higher clocks, better performance, at a lower price  

Everything on the SSDs would be gone, you'd have to reinstall everything from scratch. Anything not on those drives would be fine though.

wholyy CRAAP why da heck does the graphic card cost that much you can get 2 of those for that much money which you should btw. maB you should get more capacity ssd.

If RGB lighting is important, stick with the Asus Strix gpu.

 

Any unit failure in a RAID 0 array loses everything on all drives in the array.  If the array is being used as boot, system, and programs, without a good backup you would have to reinstall everything from scratch, i.e. as if it was a new disk. 

 

If the reason for the RAID 0 array is to create a single larger volume, don't bother. You can use Windows 10 library feature to make storage appear monolithic. Better yet, if the budget allows get a larger ssd. If the reason for the array is to improve performance, ssd behaves a little differently than hdd in RAID 0 arrays. In a general purpose system the added performance will not really be noticeable.

Not sure If replying here is a good place to ask this but: Should I hold off a bit on building this considering the 1070ti has pretty much been confirmed at this point? 

Sorry that im a bit of a noob, but yea. Basically wondering if a 1080ti would become cheaper in the near future because of the 1070ti.

There ya go... with the os and all included under 3000 with a 500gb ssd and some of that rgb bling everyone loves... also its pointless to spend a huge premium on higher end cards on the same tier like a rog strix or a msi gaming x, they all perform similarly only with the exception of a few degrees.

 

Also got you a fully modular psu to tidy up cable management.
