Help!!

Im in the middle of my first pc build, im up to installing ram, i tried to put it in the wrong way (little indent on the oposit side) it was a min or 2 till i realised what i had done. I have now installed it properly, will this have harmed the ram. thanks

shouldn't be a problem, that's why the indent is there in the first place, to prevent you from breaking it.

If you pushed it in hard and bent the connectors you're fucked.

how the hell will you bend the connectors on a ram slot? you'd have to apply so much force you'd notice it breaking instantly.

then it wouldn't take him a minute or two to notice it, so I believe he's fine. The probability of your suggestion is very low, not even my butch farmboy buddy broke his when he inserted it incorrectly and he applied quite a load of force to the ram until he noticed his error. (though he has DDR 2 but it doesn't make a difference)

i dont see how you could not notice the side pins didnt click :3 but yes i agree

As long as they aren't bent, they should be fine

Take the ram out and put it in the right way start up your pc and put windows on it and go into computer properties and see if all the ram is there if your missing some then its fucked and id probaly just return it saying it was fucked when it came here idk

Presuming that the motherboard had no power and that you didn't use an excessive amount of force, nothing should have been harmed.

If you haven't used any heavy pressure to put it in I could assume that it was just on top of slot, not even in yet. When RAM is installed right the clips will clip into place. If they haven't and you have put ram rightside, push it little untill they clip.
