Ryzen 1600 at half performance

I just got a ryzen 1600 today and I bench marked it with firestrike  my benchmark was like 7780 vs someone else with the same system and lower clock speed got over 12000.

I'm really confused because in the same benchmark my old 9370 got 8500

I overclocked to 4GHZ @1.35 volts and that made about zero difference. for some reason windows and 3d mark think this CPU has 12 logical cores (maybe amd version of hyper threading or something idk). Also tried a cmos reset

as a test I played a game of LOL, fps dropped from 120ish to 70-90ish

(side note: with all updates installed I still cant get any hardware monitors to detect anything other than cpu load, no temps,no frequencies,no vrm temp, nothing)

anyone have any idea WTF this is

Parts are in signature

That CPU does have 12 logical cores. RAM speed might be holding your scores down but it should not perform that bad. I would return it before it's too late.

Micro systems international™

Do you have the latest BIOS?

And yep, plot twist, R5 1600 has 12 threads.

Check with CPU-Z the frequency if it doesnt lock at 1.55GHz

Don't buy Apple M1 computers with 8GB of RAM

task manager says it is locked at 4.00GHz and it hasn't moved since i booted the system

btw im about to update the bios it said it was from June i think

That isn't the current speed, it's the top speed

Ensure "max performance" is enabled in power options

I found an entry on toms hardware about this. Its a bug with the june bios, if you touch any of the cpu settings it just floors the cpu multiplier no matter what you change. I changed everything back to auto and the clock speed is now 3.2 again..... piece of shit
