1070 SLI vs 1080ti????

recommendations for an Amazon 1080ti?

The only GTX 1080 Ti you should avoid is the MSi Aero because that one is very very problematic and ugly, aside from that any 1080 Ti is a beast and will be great, I have an EVGA Founders Edition myself and it is awesome.

I'm looking to upgrade to SLI for a GTX 1070 because I have a 4k tv and I am not quite able to run newer games at 4k low or medium and I personally have found that picture quality is generally better at 4k low and medium rather than 1080p Ultra. I have 2 questions:

1) I have looked over some benchmarks and found that SLI 1070's is a better idea financially if you already have one 1070, instead of selling it to try to get a 1080ti for 4k gaming. So do you personally think it would be better to try to get a second 1070 card or should I sell my 1070 and try to save up for a 1080ti? It's currently a little difficult for me to save up that high into the $800 range, but I could definitely do something closer to $400.

2) I currently have a Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! edition 8GB card and I have found that everywhere I look, I can't find a place where I can even get that card, at least not without paying way more than the card it worth. Newegg has the exact card I have...but it's $850!!! I assume these cards are low in supply everywhere so the prices have skyrocketed. Even on Amazon, this card is $425. I bought my card at Micro Center for $350 so I am looking to try and find another one but they are nowhere to be found, Microcenter's product page is just empty when googling that exact card so I assume that they are either temporarily or permanently out of stock of that particular card. I have however read in multiple articles that it is totally possible to SLI two different cards as long as they are the same chipset and same VRAM, so I found this one on Amazon, and that would help because I have a $25 Amazon gift card handy. My question is...could I SLI these two??

My current card: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10700G-10M/dp/B01GVNNOSY/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1508422651&sr=8-12&keywords=gtx%2B1070%2B8gb&tag=linus21-20&th=1

The MINI version of the card I would potentially like to SLI with: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10700G-10M/dp/B01LLAJ8PU/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1508422651&sr=8-12&keywords=gtx+1070+8gb

Otherwise, I could just buy the same card that I have off of Amazon, which like I said would be $400 out of pocket since I have a $25 gift card for Amazon available.

Bottom line, would you think that SLI 1070s is the way to go to get better 4k gaming or should I go a different route to get the most bang for my buck?

tl;dr wants 4k, 1 1070 isnt enough, 2 1070s or 1 1080ti

2 1070s are close in performance to  a 1080 non ti so id say sell the 1070 and buy a 1080ti

Thanks for the reply and the tldr!

I was referring to this video, I noticed that generally, 1070 SLI catches up pretty close to a 1080ti for half the price.

As someone who once had a TITAN X Maxwell SLI which is the same performance of a 1070 SLI, I was very pleased with the 1080 Ti, I think it always better go single GPU

1 card is less likely to have problems (and the extended support in games to one card) so sell the 1070 and get a 1080ti

Try using the PSU Tier List!

Alright, I think I'll try to see if anyone would wanna take my 1070 off my hands for $325. I currently have $200 available in my bank, and I would prefer to buy from Amazon so I can get that $25 off, are there any recommendations for an Amazon 1080ti?

I think I'll try to sell my 1070 for $325. I currently have $200 so that would bring me to $525, plus my Amazon gift, would get me to $550. That would be a good starting place, maybe wait for 1 or 2 more paychecks and I'll be able to upgrade

The only GTX 1080 Ti you should avoid is the MSi Aero because that one is very very problematic and ugly, aside from that any 1080 Ti is a beast and will be great, I have an EVGA Founders Edition myself and it is awesome.
