noctua nh-u14s and mini itx ram clearance ?

oldnick

does the noctua nh-u14s have clearance for ram dimms on mini-itx motherboard (with the fan installed on the ram side of the cooler) ? i want to lower the fan as possible to be able to install the cooler in my case without issues

i was going to buy the smaller u12s but the deffrence is only about $5 so i think i will get this one if it compatible

as long as your ram sticks dont have massive heatsinks on them it looks like it will fit just fine

this person even used the cooler with a kit of vengeance pro https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/4sXPxr

and this with no ram heatsink

Yes, it will clear the ram. You can see compatibility with motherboards on noctua's website: http://noctua.at/en/products/cpu-cooler-retail/nh-u14s/comp

Depends on which RAM. But I would recommend smaller cooler, maybe U12S. Heatsink itself is 165mm. And I have pictures to prove it. My old case had 167mm clearance. Coolers heatpipes were literally mm's away from sidepanel.

Unless the ram is unusually wide, the cooler will clear it. If it fits, the NH-U14S is the better value for $5 extra due to the quieter fan and better performance.
