Budget Gaming Build

Hello all, looking for some opinions on my new build. As you can see I'm running a 144hz monitor at the moment which I love. So I hope this build will be able to take advantage of it even more than my current one. Looking to do some light streaming, perhaps video editing on my Youtube channel. I currently have: i5 3570K @ 4.2ghz, 8GB DDR3 Ram @ 2400mhz. Works nicely, but struggles on CPU intensive games like BF1. I will be getting Destiny on launch and plan on playing that mostly and take advantage of all the beautiful frames lol. 

 

I know the RAM is alittle extra..but the current build I have is actually a friends old computer that I bought cheaply. It has no flash or personality, and this time around I wanted to get an RGB strip to go along side the RAM to switch it up whenever I felt like it.

This is a rather controversial opinion but if you're going to be playing at 1080p 144Hz, you'd ideally want an Intel processor to push for those high framerates as opposed to Ryzen.

 

Instead of opting for more "bling", I suggest that you invest in faster memory instead.

With the new coffee lake processors additional stock should be coming in the next few months. You may have to wait a little more, but you would be getting the newest release.

I have a 7700k, so no need to upgrade there for  me yet, but my roommate might be upgrading his 4790k soon

It's a waiting game at this point, but it's eventually going to be available sometime "soon™".

 

If it means getting better performance, I suggest OP should wait.

wait a bit if coffeelake availability is scarce in your place. but must go with intel in your case as suggested by @HKZeroFive
