core 2 duo E5400 vs e8400/8600 Lakka

im running lakka on an custom arcade machine however i get some hitches with the ds emulator built in ( dreamcast ect works fine ) i noticed if i set it to single core it becomes a huge ass lag so i think its cpu related

now ive got a core 2 duo e5400 in the arcade already but i have either a e8400 or e8600 in a second machine

the thing is, will lakka even make use of the upgrade :v ( e8400/8600 have more l2 cache n sse 4.1)

am not sure if its worth the hassle on a lakka os since the upgrade isnt too big in general, if lakka does utilize it then it could fix the hickups on the ds :v

should i just stick with the e5400 and deal with it, or upgrade the thing to the e8400/8600 hoping it fixes the issue ( gotta take it out of another pc and have a real hassle installing the cooler in the arcade machine coz of custom case xD )

am also considering just getting a core 2 quad socket 775 chip instead xD

either grab a compatible C2Q or grab a compatible LGA771 Xeon and mod it. its like $10 or so of ebay for a decent chip

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

You could splash for a Q9550 2.8GHz 12MB. It's the best sanely priced C2Q.

You could try to buy an old AM3 motherboard and CPU combo.

They're pretty cheap these days and emulation won't be slow with that kind of juice

i tought the e5400 would do the job, it runs all emulators fine , ps1/dreamcast ... but NDS ... lags :c
