Using laptop as a monitor / Is it possible?

ErykYT3
Go to solution Solved by iRileyx,

Most(pretty sure all) laptops only have a HDMI out port, so it wouldn't be possible.

Is it possible to display the screen displayed on another computer over a hdmi cable? I've heard that you can't since the hdmi port on laptops is only an output or something like that.

For the vast majority of laptops, you can't do it as the HDMI port is, as you mentioned, an output, not an input.

You could use software to kind of do what you want. Something like Synergy should do it.

Thanks.

Also, you are located in the north of england according to your profile, if that is so, take care during the storm. xD

You kind of could w/ an HDMI capture device, but it would hardly be practical.

North-west so about 30 miles out from the coast(Blackpool being closest I can think of) they're getting it quite hard at the minute, we're just getting the after winds so to speak, still about 50mph winds here though :P no trains running currently either.

Interesting to see how it affects different places across the country. I'm located 20 minutes away from London (roughly) and the worst we've gotten here is the orange sky and red moon today.

use splashtop to stream the screen between the two and you can set it up as an extension. so it is possible. but not with a cable but through a router.
