Use laptop as second screen with OBS

rip

I know if you have multi monitor setup you can have OBS preview screen on the other screen while have your games and what you're recording on one screen

How would I do that if I don't have a 2nd monitor but instead just a laptop. There is no video input so it can't act like a monitor in a traditional way, but software wise should be doable?

Though I need it real time. I can connect both PC via ethernet cable just fine and tranfer files.

Synergy? TeamViewer? Would that do? It doesn't need to be high res, just a preview screen.

Synergy isn't for displays, it's only for keyboards and mice. TeamViewer doesn't act like a secondary display, it shows the primary display.

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

I don't know of any software solution to this. Everything I know of will just mirror your display not create a secondary monitor.

Best thing I can think of is an USB capture card. for the laptop. Just use your laptop as the streaming computer with OBS capturing your gaming computer.

Oh for sure it is cheaper. But a dedicated streaming computer does have it advantages. But the same can be said for a secondary monitor.
