(Not us, just people in general)

Though the reskin would let them have time to add more features to the already existing feature set. I blame them trying to appeal to the COD generation its what killed FO4

I’m playing the beta and I get a crate just for logging in everyday and one just for playing the 1st battlefront. It kinda reminds me of the halo 5 req system. However, I did progress to rank 10 with only having to unlock 1 weapon, and rank 10 is the highest level in the beta.

such a shame :(

I was really looking forward to getting this after a long time of not playing any games.

Really sad, especially since the game looks so damn beautiful

Back to Skyrim/Enderal where you pay ~$10 and get 800+ hours of playtime and can do what you want.

It seems all of these games are just aiming for the highest ossicle profit margin rather than giving a good experience.

even if not targeting whales is pretty sick.

I knew this shit would be leaking over from free mobile games to 60$ regular games.

Friend of mine put himself into debt with a cod game some time ago.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

So they are doing to Star Wars games what they have already done to the movie franchise? Torn it down into individual parts and squeeze till you get every last drop of customer loyalty to bleed out then claim the franchise is unprofitable and sell the entire thing off to another round of vulturing. Bout time they modernized it.

Lets play connect the dots!

It just looks like another case of the acquisition of in-game items being accelerated if you’re prepared to spend money. I guess I don’t see the controversy: if you don’t want to spend money on those items, don’t spend it. If acquiring those items is then too slow for you, and you’re that concerned by this, you’re free to quit playing, or never play in the first place.

That is a very dumb and ignorant argument. Do you honestly believe that these games are not specifically designed around "encouraging" the player to engage in the microtransactions? All you're doing is being fooled by the illusion of choice they're giving you. These companies hire psychologists to design systems around finding the best way to trick customers into spending more money and getting them hooked on doing it. Its no different than a drug dealer giving you the first hit of a drug for free in order to get you addicted. Lootboxes are little more than gambling, intentionally designed based on the same principals as slot machines in casinos.

Wow... as someone who enjoyed the first 1-2 months of online play in SWBF this is disheartening. I enjoyed the concept of "play better >> more loot". This new system is a cash grab disguised as a protection for casuals.

The reason why I'm not buying the game is because I didn't like the gameplay. Seems too spammy and skill-less. Small open maps where people could be running from anywhere, quick kills and everything is big. Hell, FoV was locked to 55 for the beta.

Big surprise, the sequel to the complete trash Battlefront is even more complete trash. What's more disheartening is it'll still probably sell 13 million copies, just in time for the new Star Wars movie, and be dead on arrival on PC at the same time

yah I called him a dumbass and told him he'd better not buy any DLC at all in the future, sans maps maybe. So far he's stuck to that.

Some normal people have addictive tenancies. Remember when people spent tons of money on candy crush? That happened to a lot of people, even a journalist reporting on it came out and admitted they too had spent a lot on it iirc.

It's the mentality of a dollar here and a dollar there for those loot boxes. Most people that make a mistake like that and learn from it.

If he does it again I'm seriously gonna suggest help, yah.

TB did a video about the loot boxes in SoW, where he mentioned that he spent over $1,000 on Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes.  My jaw almost dropped open when I heard him say that.  I just can't imagine ever spending that much money on a digital product.

I haven't spent that much on a single game, but on some mobile games I've spent a few hundred dollars on them back when I actually played mobile games. Modern Warfare, Global Outbreak, Sims Free Play, and the Simpsons and Fallout mobile game.

Like @Syntaxvgmsaid, it can be addicting to some. Consider yourself lucky. I've stayed away from F2P games ever since. It starts off with the cheapest packages and then you get hooked and the rest is history.

I've spent 4200$+ on CS:GO when I was on sick leave for a couple of years, because I wanted to unbox a cool skin, and not buy it.

If I'd only had bought it on the market I would be rich AF

And probably won't be buying the next Battlefield either as a result.

This is why I uninstalled Origin before buying any games. The crap EA gets away with makes me mad, specially when all their games are the same as the last  one with slightly better graphics and a different single player and multiplayer progression system. And to top it off, the games ae F***ING expensive. A single map for $10? WTF?! AND PEOPLE STIL BUY THE DAMN GAMES?! My faith in humanity has almost died.

As many of us on the forum are gamers, many of us are probably already aware of EA introducing Loot Crates to the Battlefront 2 series. To some, loot crates are usually not a problem, but this is "Just Keep Digging" EA.

In their infinite wisdom EA has decided that these crates can significantly increase the abilities of characters skills, but are also part of the mechanism that levels up each individual load out. As a result wallet warriors and Credit card wielding teens will have the ability to purchase crates from the release, and level up (which is mostly unrelated to a players skill) their characters to gain significant advantages over other new players. Ea has released a statement on one of their blogs https://www.ea.com/games/starwars/battlefront/battlefront-2/news/thank-you-beta which is essentially marketing language for "Sorry, not Sorry." I will link some youtube videos below from Total Biscuit and Luetin09 With their opinions on

this implementation of loot crates. I strongly urge anyone with pre-orders to cancel them until we know how EA re tunes the crates or their affect on character abilities and/or progression Edit: For those people looking at this game only for the multiplayer functionality.

From what I've heard, the system in the Beta was a Beta, as in not the real thing. And you will have to level up by playing the game to be able to buy more crates or use the stuff you got in your crates. So basically it's not pay to win, it's pay to slog a little less.

Do you have a source? I wonder how many levels you  would need to go up to make more purchases, I imagine early leveling will be quite easy, If you're smart and know how the system works you could still game the system to maximize your advantage and purchasing opportunities.

I almost sound like an investor /s.
