Can my 720p cast on 1080p?

I have a samsung note 2 which is 720p, if I use chromecast and the video supports 1080p, will my phone cast only at 720p or 1080p?

Depends what u cast from. If you do a screencast then it will be 720p.

But if you cast from the youtube app or netflix then it will cast the stream and not your device. (The Chromecast has its own Youtube/Netflix player)

Nice! How about downloaded 1080p movies? Will it also cast 1080p?

Yes, mind you that the phone has to do some work for this so this might not be butter smooth. You will just have to test with different cast apps.

A few that do just that:

- ES File Explorer with the Cast plugin

- Localcast

- BubblePnP

- Plex

 

Just try them out and whatever works best you can buy the full version of.
