Is there really much difference? I still have the 07 version (I think) on my windows PC at home and as far as I can tell, not much has changed.

Layout changes and lots of cosmetic changes. The programs run smoother and (IMO) it's easier to find different tools and such. Outlook is definitely much easier to use. Publisher is better, too. Word hasn't changed much other than cosmetically, but what is there to change really?

I used to be quite active here.

From the top of my head, and quickly look through the programs:

(big list)

and most likely missing more.

Most of those either don't really apply or don't matter to me. I guess a lot of that is personal preference and depends on what you need.

It's funny, when I discovered how good and easier to use the [free] google docs apps are over the last year it made me really question the value of Word and MS Office in general. If they've made MS Office apps easier to use, then that's a good thing, of course. And if you really needed a specific new feature of the later versions, I guess it's a benefit and reason to upgrade.

There's just so many good free options out there that I don't see the need to purchase MS Office at all, on a per-machine home-use basis.
