Digital TV Box Doesn't support 21:9

I have a TV in the sitting room hooked up to a digital tv receiver. I use the TV receiver to playback media from a USB stick . the problem is that it only supports 4:3 and 16:9 so anything in 21:9 get stretches and looks signifigantly worse. Is there any way I can fix this via update etc
