I look forward to the GPU usage for task manager for my home computer, and the UI scaling without having to relog for my Work monitor (using one 4K and two 1080p's on win7 currently, New win 10 PC should be coming by next week)

This is looking awesome.  I won't use a lot of the new features they are packing in but some of it is super nice.  The GPU graph is a very welcome change for me.

But seriously now,

Recommendations for successful update (applies to all Service Packs from past version of Windows, and Windows 10):

  • Make sure that ALL your drivers are fully updated (hopefully there is no bug in the latest version that causes issues with the upgrade process).
  • If you have any software that uses a drivers (VMs, software that uses a peripheral, etc) make sure that those are fully updated.
  • Some software that controls fans, OC, etc, might cause issues. Best to uninstall them, restart, and install them back once your upgraded.
  • If you have anti-virus or other security software beside Windows ones, make sure that they are fully updated before starting anything. I recommend to uninstall them, restart, update, and re-install back.
  • Never use a registry cleaner
  • If you have had a malware or virus of any kind, your system is most likely still compromised despite the removal of it. Remember that your A/V only removed the viruses, it doesn't fix system files changes or registry changes. So you are probably looking at a clean install.

No kidding.  At least Microsoft expanding the update options.  Hopefully they keep expanding options down the road.

I will test on my lappy to see how the new build works out since I don't allow W10 on the main rig yet.

Bingo, MS integrated them so deeply(along with the telemetry crap) that if you nuke them something will break(the ""start menu"" in this case).

The part in the manage interfaces menu is the same as in Windows 7, but in Windows 7 you could also connect to a VPN through the little menu you get when you left click on the network icon in the notification area.

 

Windows 7:

Click the network icon -> click on VPN name -> click connect.

 

Windows 10:

Click the network icon -> click on VPN name (launches the settings apps) -> click on the VPN name again -> click connect.

Most HP AIO Printers use SMBv1 also. We already have a ton of PC's that can no longer be scanned to over a network. And HP is not planning on updating consumer level machines to use SMBv2/3

@GoodBytes ReFS can still be used, just not created, from Pro right? My whole setup isn't going to crash and burn until I get Pro for Workstation, is it? :P
