Internet browsing PC

So my mom wants me build her a pc for under 1000$. The only thing she wants it to do is surf the web, but the way she sure is to have 3 internet browsers open with about 30+ tabs open at once. Her laptop cant handle it and freeze up and dogs out. Whould a Ryzen build be the way to go?

My brother was saying a Intel compustick but you cant upgrade it in the future. I looked at the NUC, seems like a good option but still you cant upgrade the CPU

With so many browser tabs spend your money on a large monitor. Even an i3 will be fine on the internet.

I'd go with a prebuilt machine and get it up to 16GB of RAM and an SSD, whether out of the box or with an upgrade you do yourself.

 

You don't need heavy processing power to run 30+ tabs unless somehow they're all running Farmville or something.

Please don't purchase a potato on a stick for the purpose of web browsing. Don't get me wrong - the little compute stick PC's are great media centre units or usable to run 24/7 advertising slideshows for a business, but I'd never use on for general computing purposes. A Gigabyte Brix PC or some other small form factor PC would be a great option.

For this use I wouldn't recommenced building a new PC, as you could get a pre built (all be it older tech) for less which is able to do what she wants and cost a reasonable amount. You might need a new hard drive/SSD for storage but still. (for 30 tabs a core 2 duo would be good enough). Heads up it will not preform as great as a system you could build, but will preform good enough

This is basically what I use my laptop.... Not saying get a laptop but these are my mobile specs on a 6 year old laptop.

16gig gskill ram not sure the speed

250gig Samsung EVO SSD notsure the model but its 5 years old

No GPU, just using the APU

 

I have yet to run into ANY problems with this laptop and find no reason to even think about replacing it, when I just use it for browsing on the sofa, word processing, league of legends, and remote access to my servers. I am a crazy browser I will have tons of tabs open on this thing, youtube streaming, different forums, etc no issue. I just run webroot and CC Cleaner on it and never install bullshit I don't need on it.

only bad thing about this in my opinion is the SCDkey version of windows. I can see a younger guy taking advantage of this, but I use to use these for friends builds back in the day and some of the times I have had people have issues with them a year down the road or so. Then I get a phone call saying fix this please for me I can't work. Where I'd rather tell them to pony up 65 more dollars so I don't get that annoying phone call in the future.

This honestly is the best bet.

a refurb optiplex, throw in an ssd, and she'll be perfectly set.

 

you could build a cheap pc, but its not really worth the effort, and a mac just costs more than its worth

Has 16GB of RAM so she can have as many tabs as she wants open. Also included a monitor, keyboard/mouse, and speakers since she is going from using a laptop and I doubt she has some lying around, unless you're providing them in which case just disregard them.
