Can you cool the Core i7 8700K well without using liquid cooling?

Thanks ^^

Large air coolers would be perfect for it even if you want to overclock it, units like the NH-D15 or Dark Rock Pro 3 would work really well.

I actually prefer large air coolers. My personal favorite is the NH-D15. Works really well, even better than some AIOs, and pretty quiet.

Depends on how far you want to push the CPU.

Higher frequency will increase heat output more than a simple voltage change, but you should be able to get a very reasonable overclock with good single-tower and dual-tower air coolers like the be quiet! Pure Rock and Deepcool Lucifer or a large-tower heatsink like the Dark Rock Pro.

Are you sure? Idk how different CFL is but my 3570k up to 4.4ghz on stock voltages raised temps by about 10 degrees where the voltage required to hit 4.5 caused a spike of 20 degrees.

Yes. Good air coolers are on the same tier as good AIOs.

Intel has really increased clocks the past 2-3 generations. Coffee Lake is consistently hitting 5 ghz and up, at least on the review samples.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Because the socket is LGA 1151, anything that works on the LGA 115X platform will work here, and that means you have a lot of options for air cooling.

The Noctua NH-D15, the Phanteks PH-TC14PE, or something similar that others are suggesting may work. They're big, but they don't cost too much, and they perform beautifully.

If you need something cheaper, you could technically put a budget cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO or a Cryorig H7 on it, but with how hot Intel's latest CPUs can get even without an overclock, skimping on the cooler is not something you'd want to be doing.
