i7 8700k and i5 8400 Have shown up on Pc Case Gear

RazorStorm

New Intel CPU's are out and prices are up on PC case gear (an Australian retailer)

i7 8700k $549 AUD ($430 USD)

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40462/intel-core-i7-8700k

i5 8400 $279 AUD ($218 USD)

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/40461/intel-core-i5-8400

Prices are quite high TBH, but you do get the extra 2 cores. And the i7 was sold out even before I saw it.

I'm not sure if this is topic worthy, cuz I didn't see anyone else talking about this. Maybe im early?

EDIT: it's a non k i5

We're getting a lot of word, at least out of the European channels, of some extremely short supply of the 8700k. Think RX Vega problems. 8700k could skyrocket by next week. We'll see.

Sales start today and NDA lifts here in a couple of hours. (9 am EDT?)

That explains why every retailer has them limited to 1 per customer

I know enough cases where some people buy multiple and then sell all but one and still make a profit.

I also always suggest to nail their tongue to a table and have a dog s**t down their throat until they su****ate from their own p**e but I don't get what I want.

That's not a nice thing to do.

On another forum, someone pointed out that their yields for 6c that can sustain 4.7 Single-core might actually be pretty low. The 8600k only has to boost to 4.3 Ghz and it has other parts not working/disabled. 5.3 Ghz seems to be the rough high-level for an all-core OC under Water from early reports (and that's likely with a delid), which means all of the cores have to get  ~400 Mhz from absolute max.

When put in that sort of terms, the yields are likely not great for making the 8700k... and that's going to be the top Retailing SKU. The problems with being the "top performance" seller is you have to deal with consistently getting that performance. (This, in some ways, is the result of the multiple delays in the node shifts for Intel. They've found ways to clock Skylake higher.)

Depends on your local suppliers but the trend in the UK is the US style sales hype is dead and deals around then have been very poor in last year or two. Before that, there were the occasional gems and I got a 960GB SSD in one of them for what you would pay for a 500GB SSD today. If a new product is in short supply it is unlikely to be offered on sale anyway.

Main system: i9-7980XE, Asus X299 TUF mark 2, Noctua D15, Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 3x 16GB 2R, RTX 3070, NZXT E850, GameMax Abyss, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB, Acer Predator XB241YU 24" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync + HP LP2475w 24" 1200p 60Hz wide gamut
Gaming laptop: Lenovo Legion 5, 5800H, RTX 3070, Kingston DDR4 3200C22 2x16GB 2Rx8, Kingston Fury Renegade 1TB + Crucial P1 1TB SSD, 165 Hz IPS 1080p G-Sync Compatible

The 8700k is going to be the "best Gaming CPU you might have trouble buying for the next two months". I get the feeling there might be a good use for the 8700 (non-K) for the first time in a while. Stock gaming performance should be nearly identical.

So far, this is looking like an extremely low-stock Launch for the most popular SKUs. Which likely means we're about to get a whole slew of Videos & Stories about a CPU most end-users probably won't be able to buy easily until December. I wonder if we'll start seeing $100-150USD premiums crop up?

Let the price gouging commence.  $379 at newegg and $499 at Microcenter.  Might as well buy a 7820X if you have to pay $499.

EVGA Supernova P2 1000 PSU w/ CableMod, Asus Xonar DSX, Lian Li Galahad 360, Hyte Y60, Corsair K70, EVGA Torq X10, (1) Alienware AW3418DW Ultrawide, (1) Acer Predator XB271HU 1440P, Logitech G535

From another forum, almost no one seems to be find them, but the NDA hasn't dropped yet. So, maybe some is being held for the official launch time. Not sure.

I only saw one store from Germany to put it on website. Most likely you will have to wait few more hours before all stores put it on sale.

It's not just the UK.  A couple years ago when I bought my R9 390, I was considering waiting for BF/CM to buy it, but found it on a great deal on Thanksgiving day so I went ahead and ordered it.  The very next day (on Black Friday), the price went up and I didn't see it as low for nearly a year.

Sometimes you really can find good deals on BF/CM, but other times it's best to order beforehand.
