yeah the rampage 3 extreme didn't have an NF200 or PLX or any kind of pcie switch, same as the X58A-OC which is why they were only good for 3 way sli but could do 4 way crossfire

IIRC skipping the NF200s also lowered some latencies too. I could see if my 3X is the variant with the NF200 or not, and if not then compare to my 4-Way, but eeeeeeeeeeehhhh doubt I could be arsed lol.

Yea....I knew this would be a potential issue going in but figured in the 10 years since the board came out that the passthrough issues would've been solved by now. Nope!

 

Question is now what to do with the thing if I can't figure out the issue.

Put 7 1660 Tis with Byksky blocks and cut down I/O plates in and make a folding monster

I mean....there are a bunch of 1070ti on ebay with Bykski waterblocks for $250/ea right now.

yeah there'll always be a latency penalty to using pcie switches but at least as far as benching goes, not enough to make a difference really, the only reason they fell out of favour really is just because they're stupid expensive, i mean my P9X79E-WS does have 2 PLX switches but even on X79 those were pretty uncommon

Should I upgrade? I am currently not happy with my motherboard because it only has one M.2 slot and I seem to be out of space on my NVME 1TB SSD. I would like to have 2TB not sure if I should upgrade the whole build or just buy a bigger NVME. I know my system was overkill back in late 2016 when I built it just not sure the path.

You can always get PCIe to M.2 NVMe cards. Single ones are around $20, if you can find a modded BIOS for your board that enables PCIe slot bifurcation, you can get an ASUS Hyper M.2 card and run 2-4 NVMe drives in it.

so i need to pop together a pc for the other halves now, got a while to do this, but im tempted to go full ham and run the classic top tier pc from the X58 era, 3 480's, nice 6 core part, 12gb, maybe 24gb ram etc, throw a megahalems on it, maybe pop it in a haf 932, jobs a good en

Has anyone OC memory higher than 2400C11 on x58? I remember Kingston made a 2666 triple channel back then, pls share if you have them.

 

Anyway, i just realize g.skill ribjaws has lower tRFC than the sniper one. Both works fine with gultown chip at 2400.

 

 

 

Edit: G.Skill sniper is a lot more compatible with 1366 than ribjaws. Just install the ram, set freq to 2400C11131331 and they're good to go. I had to increase tREFI to 4 to make it stable.

so im back here again, does anyone know any stable over clocks for 2 x5690s on a evga sr-2, ive been messing around with my x5680 and almost managed to boot it with 4.6ghz at 23 ratio and a 200bclk  and 1.35 voltage but it just came up with windows error codes to ive put it back down to 4.2 anyone know any stable oc's for the x5680 aswell?

Below is a asus p6t deluxe v2, x5680 with a hyper 212 evo, 36gb ddr3 of corsair and hyper x fury, a 1080ti and a 960,
