Sony introduces the PlayStation Visa Credit Card. Yes, you read correctly.

Don't adjust your display settings. Sony introduces a credit card for the PlayStation fans who spends a lot in the US.. Managed by Capital One, The PlayStation Visa Credit card, as it is called, gives you PlayStation Reward points point when you purchase things.

 

 

 

You always get Sony Reward points when you buy things with it. And you get 5x points when you buy directly from Sony's PlayStation Store, 3x the points if you pay your phone bill with it. You also get 50% (once) on your PlayStation Plus (yearly only) membership. You also get 10% off PlayStation Music, Vue and Now. And no annual fees. 0% APR.

If you're a PlayStation fan, you probably use your credit card for a lot: games, add-ons, the virtually obligatory Plus subscription and the occasional accessory. Wouldn't it be good if you could at least get some compensation for pouring so much money into Sony's coffers? If you live in the US, you can. Sony has launched a Visa-based PlayStation credit card from Capital One that gives you discounts and redeemable points if you shop for Sony gear or PlayStation services.

You always get Sony Rewards points whatever you buy (including three times as many for paying phone bills), but you'll get five times the usual points if you shop at the PlayStation Store, and a similar amount for Sony products if you fill out a Bonus Points form. You'll also get 10 percent off subscriptions to PlayStation Music, Now and Vue (in the form of credit), and half off a Plus subscription if you spend at least $3,000 with the card in the span of a year.

 

The catch?

• You need to spend a minimum of 3000$ in the year get the 10% off promotion discount
• The 50% off membership promotion ends March 2018, so you need to renew before. You also need to spend 3000$ minimum.
• You only get rewards points on participating stores (GameStop, Walmart, ToysRUs are not included, including many sites, beside Amazon.com. There is a lot of Audio Specialist stores if that is your thing. List here: https://www.sony.com/retailers)
• You need A LOT of reward points. 1$ gets you 100 points.
• 14.99% - 24.99% variable APR after March 2018
• Credit card check and approval needed
• To get your bonus points mentioned, you need to fill up a form after each purchases related to them to get them. Else you won't. This includes PlayStation store purchases. The "5x points" is not automatically given. Processing time is needed before you gets your extra points.
• No information if the points have an expiry or expires at the end of the year, or 1 year after you get your credit card.

I don't understand how this is new.  I've had the Playstation card for like 3 years now. The question is, do I use it alto, that I do not.  For me I use it enough in like 2-3 months to get 3 or so games around this time of the year when there's a new game releasing ever other week and renew my playstation plus and then back to my other points cards.

Based on experience I neither trust Capital One or Chase. 

I only use American Express and CitiCard.
