Behold: The only Stage Manager user in existence

And also the only Windows gamer to actually have a centred taskbar or light mode (I actually use Auto Dark Mode)

And my Steam Deck is here too

Overall, you can see I take a very light-touch approach. My philosophy is to only keep the most important programs pinned to the taskbar while putting everything else in the Start Menu/Launchpad. Come to think of it, it's similar to how I manage my desk space in real life, keeping as little on the desk as possible, but stowing everything I need in drawers.

Just i3wm with some frutiger aero type theming for GTK and Qt, and a sick wallpaper. No compositing or other fancy stuff. Xorg tearfree enabled.

Literally didn't think you guys existed. I tried it but bounced right off it. You try it on iPad?

Browsing the web on a machine like that's a brave move. I'd never let anything that out of date on my network. You have separate VLAN for OSes like that with unpatched vulnerabilities?

My setup is my Mac Studio as primary workstation and then from there reach out to servers / vms via ssh.

My desktop is simple as well. I hate when it's cluttered and overly complicated.

Yep! I've used it on iPad for a while now; I've left it on for a few months now. I think it's even more approachable there for me and feels like a natural extension of iPadOS, since it provides something close to a traditional window-based interface on an OS that wouldn't otherwise have such a thing. It also helps that there isn't really a difference between running Stage Manager with a fullscreened app vs just leaving Stage Manager off.

As for on Mac, it took a bit of getting used to, but I've come to like the way it works; this is my very subjective opinion, but it feels more elegant than Windows 11's management of grouped windows. There is some clunkiness that adds a couple extra steps here and there though, especially since everything else automatically minimizes if you open a new window.

I have a few to show off from different systems.

On my Framework Laptop, I dual boot with Windows 11 and Fedora Sodalite (Silverblue but with Pantheon desktop.)

On my desktop (basically an old laptop motherboard I threw into an old desktop case) I run OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with Gnome.

Is your terminal always transparent like that? It looks slick in the screenshot, but seems like it would be hard to use when combined with your desktop icons or when you have other windows open.

yea

it's still readable too. i haven't had any issues with visibility. the background keeps it distinct enough from what's behind it. i have it set to 80% opacity btw

what motherboard is it? is it just one of those matx / itx boards which have dc input and a laptop cpu or is it literally a laptop motherboard? if so, were u able to get it working with front io and the headers for the power buttons and such?
