No, just no, it doesn't even outperform the GTX 820m, so it won't do much.

Recently my parents just gave me their old MacBook Air early 2015 version so they can upgrade theirs. I have my own desktop, but the question is, what can I game on my MacBook? My Mac got a 1.6Ghz Core i5-5250u, 4Gb of RAM, 250GB SSD, a powerful integrated Intel HD Graphics 6000. I'm a shooter kind of guy, but any great games that are playable on MacBooks are fine. I don't mind low settings or anything.

The specs are really quite unimpressive, most 2D games will run OK, some older 3D games for Mac might run at 20-30, most modern games won't run at all at a playable frame rate.

I'd say Grand Theft Auto V wouldn't be bad to try but I'd highly recommend having at least 6GB of RAM for it.

GTA V will need bootcamp, since it's Windows only.

CS:GO runs well enough to play on my macbook with very similar specs (macbook pro 2015).

The whole borderlands series has versions for OS X which run at ~40 fps on lower settings

Most esports games such as rocket league, CSGO, will run on the low settings preset, overwatch might struggle on the intel HD graphics since there are a lot of scenes in the game where there is a lot of action going on.

I have boot camp already. Mind you that MacBooks aren't upgradable. Their RAM is stuck into the mobo.

I have tried CSGO and it performs at 40fps Low Settings. For some reason, my POWERFUL graphics card don't increase it VRAM automatically.

Considering that this is a $1000 laptop at the time my parents bought it, it just doesn't make sense. Even MacBook Airs today still use fking-slow 5th gen Core i5 U version

FTL (faster than light) is one of my all time favorite games and would run like a charm.

Overwatch

Ouch, alright.

CS barely needs VRAM to function. 512MB of VRAM would be more than enough for the game maxed out, truthfully.

Completely different target audiences. You don't get a Macbook Air or any kind of Ultrabook because it's particularly worth it price for performance. You get it to have a lightweight device with good build quality and excellent battery life so you can use it on the road. For that it is well worth it despite the specs.

If you want to game on it just use Steam in-home streaming and let your pc do the heavylifting

My Build:

CPU: i7 4770k GPU: GTX 780 Direct CUII Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero SSD: 840 EVO 250GB HDD: 2xSeagate 2 TB PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 650W

I didn't say it's not built well. It has perfect battery life for my daily usage (if I'm not gaming) and great design. What I mean is it would be nice if Apple can squeeze in a 7th gen Core i5 in it. That will make my Mac more usable, and it's more powerful and power efficient

Considering its ultrabook, its not aimed for gaming or heavy desktop-style use. Its for light entertainment and office work for long periods. Plus lightweight for special portability. Put that $1000 for normal laptop and you are getting some performance. Not that much that I would be gaming regularly. But some.
