sounds like a malware infestation and lack of maintenance.

No... I dropped it... and ever since then stuff has been happening... I’ll contact the seller see maybe if I can get help. Probably not... it is old.

Mine.

I would buy a new drive and install windows on it, if you dropped the old one then it is almost certainly the cause of it. The nice thing though is that you shouldn't have to buy windows you can just use the same product key that you had before so all you need is the new drive and a usb stick with the windows installer on it

How big of a drive do you need? you can get an ssd for $80-$120. It wont have a ton of storage but it will work. You could buy a whole system for the price of a dirtbike

dropping it doesn't help. toss it. it's over.

since you were able to boot with the laptop drive, maybe reinstall that, boot, and when at desktop you can hook up the bad PC drive and pull data off it? (hot swap- it may find it right away or you may need to reboot for windows to see it. _)

Update, reinstalling windows doesn’t work at all either... it’s the drive. I know hear a scratching noise from it when booting up ?
