Windows 10 Update Not Installing? (KB4038788)

TheSaint

There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: 2017-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1703 for x64-based Systems (KB4038788) - Error 0x80070002

I keep getting this error message whenever Windows 10 tries to download the update above. I don't have any firewall or blocking software that prevents Windows 10 update. This particular update has been trying to install unsuccessfully for 8 days. Any idea as to why it can't install? Is there a way to manually download the update and install it if the Windows Update program is being glitchy?

Thanks for any pointers.

Try restarting your machine and then go for the update.

That usually does the trick.
