Can i fix this Broken TV

R3DOPS

I use this tv to play on my PS2, Xbox 1 and gamecube. Its the only TV i have that has AV. But it has these annoying blue lines. I can still see whats going on but its annoying. Is there anyway i can fix this myself or is the TV technically broken? Video below.

The video doesn't play for me.

Anything can be fixed. It's just generally cost prohibitive to do so.

With the cost of televisions and monitors these days I don't think it is cost effective to fix.  Essentially not knowing what is wrong with it other than it has blue streaks won't get you very far with repairs.  Of course, if you knew how to fix it with knowledge in television repair, you could possibly get parts on the cheap side but to take it to a repair shop these days, at least where I live, would be a killer.  Now days repairmen don't charge by the job but by the hour and currently television repair here where I am is between $60 and 75 per hour.  Goog luck but I think it would be cheaper to replace than to repair.

try pinching the top or bottom of the LCD panel where the lines are. If this temporarily alleviates the issue then it means the glue that's holding the signal cable to those LCD pixel columns. In this case you can try heating it while keeping it pinched to melt and reset the glue or devise something to permanently hold it pinched. If this it doesnt fix it then further work is needed to diagnose the issue.

All the devices use AV. so Red, White and yellow. Common for the time as the gamecube, ps2 and so on came out around the year 2000. the monitors i use only have HDMI, DVI, VGA. I live in Canada if that helps.

This is rare, but some monitors will accept an rgb with csync on green or component yP pB pR signal through vga using a passive adapter. For the ps2 component cables are cheap, but for the gamecube they're expensive and incompatible on the second revision of the console so I'd just pick up a used wii for $20-$30 and use that for gamecube games. What model of monitor do you use?

Something like this.

There might be cheaper ones, you'd have to look. And yes, the order in which it states the inputs matters. It has to be AV to HDMI. There's loads of cheap options the other way.

You'd only need 2 though, no? The XB1 should connect via HDMI.

Probably referring to the original Xbox.

I advise you look into reviews for the AV/RCA to HDMI converters. I personally haven't used any, but there is potential that the latency in some may make them unsuitable for gaming.

Red/white/yellow is called Composite Video, if you're looking for search terms to help look for a converter.

OK but is the converters make it look like shit? I herd people saying they stretch the image and there is lag. I mean i dont mind the lag as long as its not noticeable. I just want to play the games i played as a kid. :/ Also my tv says AV i dont know why they dont call it composite

AV stands for Audio/Video, it's a generic term. People called it that when there were no other types of audio-video interfaces in common use.

Composite doesn't look great, any converter isn't going to look any better than that. Stretching depends on how your TV handles 4:3 signals, it might stretch on default settings but could be changeable depending on the TV.

Well my monitor is an ASUS VS Series VS238H-P. I understand Composite wont look good, especially compared to today's standards. But what i am worried about is if it changes the colors or makes the image less better then it was.

Depends on the converter really. I'm not sure which ones are good.

Honestly I'd just find another TV. Tube tv's (I assume that's what you're using) are generally given away for free.
