Hyper 212 on ASRock AB350 Pro4 (ram clearance?)

Frankieanime158

Just curious if anyone has the same motherboard as me (asrock ab350 pro4) as well as a Hyper 212. Curious if there's enough clearance for ram. I have Corsair LPX thankfully, so they're small, but just wanna bit of conformation before I buy. Thanks :)

Ryzen 7 2700x, MSI Gaming X RX 480 8gb, Asus ROG X470 Gaming, 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000, 120gb Kingston SSD (Boot) + 1TB Seagate Barracuda.

Shouldn't be any problems, IIRC the LPX is the smallest RAM modules around ATM, so no other choice apart from changing cooler.

[edit] Just clarifying, smallest SDRAM.

I have a question though, why don't you use the wraith cooler?

Alright, thanks :] And I have a 1600, it came with the Spire. I know people say it's good for overclocking, but I can hardly hit 3.6ghz without temps getting too much. I tried 3.7, and it shut down 10 minutes into Aida after passing the safe temp threshhold. Or do you mean, why don't I buy the Wraith cooler separately..? I'm in Canada, can't find any reasonable listings. Apparently it starts at 60$ US, and the LED hyper 212 is on sale for 35$ here, so I'd rather just save the money. From what I've seen, they perform the exact same, you're just paying extra for the matched aesthetic, which isn't important to me right now :P

No, not at all... I just wondered why you didn't use the included wraith cooler.. but now I know that you did and want a better cooling solution. What case do you have? is it not a good airflow case? just trying to figure out why it's not cooling so well. Also what kind of volatge are you putting through the CPU when attempting OC?

I'm trying to think of alternatives to the 212, that have good clearance for RAM too. Not that there's anything wrong with a 212, but it won't get you much further than the wraith I think if that;s hitting shutdown temps.. either that or you need to recheck the fitting of the cooler maybe?

Airflow is fine, I have 4 fans setup for it. I'm able to hit 3.6 on the stock 1.23v core. I tried 1.27 for 3.7, and it was a bit unstable. 1.28 was fine, but Ryzen master recorded 90c and it shut down after 10 minutes. And yea, it's the spire though, not the wraith, which is much much weaker. I've watched comparisons of the 212 and the spire from people like Bitwit, and 212 allows for the 4.0 OC just fine, if one's cpu can reach it anyways. I've re-pasted it with Arctic MX4, and even tried open air, still has pretty nasty temps on the spire.

Ahh OK, no worries - as long as you checked and tested that's great. I just didn't want you to spend money on something that could've been avoided.

Yeah, in that case go for it, haven't actually tested the 212 on mine, didn't think it'd be much better than what I have. Keep meaning to check the Noctua d15, but it's huge and would have to change a few things to accomodate that... and I'm OK with mine at 3.85 TBH, good enough temps.

OK, well I wish you luck with the 212, let us know how you get on with it, would be interested to hear... and if you need any help, let us know :)

There's low profile DDR4.

LPX is just standard profile which all standard coolers are designed for.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Didn't think they did low profile DDR4, have never seen any anyway... but yes you're probably correct.
