Only the first 2tb is usable.. in a 3tb hdd ?

Yes you can, windows just has a stupid limitation that you can't use a GPT boot drive on a computer with a BIOS based mobo, it does however work with EFI. EDIT: surely Windows has a way to convert to GPT without data loss, since this is possible on linux

pre windows xp you cant boot on gpt but i guess this information is void for the last few yrs
