8100, 8350k, 8400, 8600k, 8700 and 8700k pricing in the Philippines

  • i5 8400 - PHP 10,280 = USD 202.802
  • i3 8350k - PHP 9,950 = USD 194.527
  • i3 8100 - PHP 6,600 = USD 130.204

Note:

This store sometimes priced their products higher if they are the only one who are selling it, for example here the price of Ryzen 1950x is USD 1169.021.

Source: https://awesome-table.com/-KrkkVbKZR_HZ2x8lsHk/view

For me, right now, the pricing is not that good especially here, I am confident this pricing will decrease once other stores start to sell Coffee Lake too. The prices right now are not that competitive against the Ryzen offerings especially here where people always look for budget oriented builds, for example a Ryzen 1700 is just PHP 16,000 or USD 311.74. I do hope that the price will be the same as their predecessors but it may not happen. My opinion may change once the benchmarks are released.

Even though the Coffee Lake CPUs here are expensive, i7-8700k is the best for gaming(I am still waiting for more streaming benchmarks vs 1700 or 8600k vs 1600). I will add more of my opinion once more streaming benchmarks are released, but based on GamersNexus' streaming benchmark(Dota 2 benchmark part), the 1700 is better.

I am still calling it as $350 MSRP for the 8700k here in the US. Yes, initial launch will have some price gouging due to high demand, but Ark will list $350ish. If I am wrong, I'll do something drastic. Like run my ram at JEDEC speeds for an entire month.

Shhhh. Don't let them see that people are thinking that, they'll think it's ok!!

I think Intel always knew what they would eventually have to do. They just haven't felt the competitive push to do it.

Did I make it sound like I thought $500 was OK?  Oops lol that was not my intention.  If they make it $500, I will laugh at them and shake my head as I watch people by from AMD instead

They cannot price it at $500, it would legitimately kill itself against the 7800X, a $400 chip with more PCIe lanes, more memory channels, AVX-512 support, etc. They have to price it cheaper than the 7800X, but they cannot price it too cheap without also killing the 7800X. $350 is the right price, with the 8700 being priced at around $320, and the 8700T being around $300. That way, Intel gets to make X299 look good in comparison with the additional features it has over the Z300 series, while also giving the consumer platform plenty of upgrade options that will likely out-perform X299's 7800X in standard consumer tasks. Quad channel memory won't help you in gaming, if anything the loss in efficiency and latency will make it worse. Additional PCIe lanes only matter if you intend to use devices that make use of them, and you'd be hard pressed to find a game outside of DIRT that even uses AVX, let alone AVX-512.

If this chip costs even $20 more than $350, they are going to have a difficult time selling it against their other offerings. I hope they understand that.

Mostly just need a small personal touch now. Like, offer your opinion on whether or not you think the prices are fair, what you wish they would be, whether or not you think the product will be competitive at said prices, etc. Basically, any opinion related to the article/context of the post will do. Aside from that, looks really great.

$350 USD is ~$425 CAD right now so hopefully they can price it around that and no higher.  Most things here luckily are just a straight currency conversion at least so hopefully this will be too.

Looks like a legit news post to me. Textbook example if you ask me. I also agree with your opinion, and it was something I forgot to touch upon as well. Even if Intel's 8700k smashes say, the R7 1700 at multi-threaded workloads while being the IPC and core clock king, it won't matter if it costs twice as much money. The truth is, people are not looking to spend $400+ on a CPU just for gaming. If they are doing more than just gaming, they also want the added benefits of the X299 platform. In order for the 8700k to work, it has to be cheaper than X299, while still being competitive against Ryzen. I am not saying the 8700k needs superior price:performance, as the price premium favors the faster of the two, but I am saying that they cannot price a product twice as much if performance is not going to be anywhere near twice as fast. $350 USD for the 8700k will work, because that puts it right in between the 1700X and 1800X for pricing, and it should offer comparable multi-threaded performance (when heavily overclocked) while absolutely smashing it's single thread performance. This, combined with the rumors of CFL's IMC being even stronger than Kaby's (which was slightly stronger than Skylake), gives gamers the fastest, no-compromises gaming CPU priced right around AMD's premium consumer offerings. The R7 1700 is still $50-$70 cheaper at those price points (if the 8700k is $350), but will only have "cheap multi-threading" as it's major appeal over the 8700k.

The 8600k will have to be priced around $220-$240 in my eyes in order to remain competitive against the Ryzen 1600's, while the 8350k will do absolutely amazing at $150 if they choose to price it as such. I mean, imagine getting 7700k performance for $150? You'd be set on the vast majority of titles. I really hope Intel doesn't kill CFL before it launches by trying to charge absurdly high prices just for that performance premium.

At $500 that's when I'd laugh and buy one from work for like $200 and then slowly sob as this will be the last intel processor I'd ever buy :(

Yes I agree. Hope motherboards will be competitive too and will have an long-term upgrade path like AM4.
