Wouldn't be a good idea for group chats? have groups for specific topics and even just a community chat?.

real time chat are super hard to moderate, even normal forum sometimes gets unmoderated too

I'm aware, but there are chat systems that can help do some of the moderating, censorship and language parameters  can be set. then long time trusted forum users could be granted moderator rights to help. etc just saying.

It is too hard to moderate and there is a LTT discord anyway

well i was not aware of this. and moderating would be hard as long as it was planned. timed chat rooms, or only have them available when a moderator was available etc.

Many websites with alot of uses that have live chats go just fine. Usually just that one or two annoying kids a day who will get banned from it

moderators are like side job, they go online whenever they want/can. 

so it would suck having to wait someone to go online just so you can chat with people, thus would create a long queue lineup and make moderating even worse

censorship only isn't gonna help. LTT is pretty lenient on curse and swear words but when the debate goes really heated and no moderators around it's gonna be bad

 

we also already have moderator recruitment just few weeks ago. time on the forum doesn't mean anything, a guy with 30k post got banned here btw

Censoring words is pretty useless as there are always ways to go around automatic censorship. Even AV's parental controls get things mixed and they have actual paid developers (there's town called "Pornainen" here, guess if parental filters block its website or not). As for moderators, everyone who gets any elevated rights would need to upheld standards set to forum staff. Thats why there are always need for new mods. There are really few experienced users who are seen worthy. If you look at recent discussion around 3-5 of the unofficial Discords, you might understand why there needs to be some standard for moderators.

All moderators and admins are volunteers. They manage forums at spare time. That means they have time to handle reports for 1h per day and then have some own time to browse around forums. If you would be at same position, would you really want to babysit users having discussion on some timed room? If there would be someone who is paid to do that, sure. But at the moment its far easier to just deny any real-time chats and let discussion go on in topics or in PMs.

 

There are multiple unofficial and one semi-official chat system already. Unofficials are in Discord, TS and maybe in IRC. Semi-official is actually Twitch chat which is always online, but doesn't have people if there isn't stream going on.

Sorry, but the internet is just so funny sometimes... I don't mean to be racist but... People are doing it to like just make the company look 'bad' or be harmlessly destructive haha.

i've never seen one of those chats used for anything productive. it's generally just a bunch of people being dumb or spamming

We used to have one back in the VB days however A) it was a pain to moderate and B) it wasn't used enough to warrant it.
