Do hard drives not require screws

My 1TB drive arrived without any screws, are HDD mounting screws come with the case or do they just slide into the slots in the case

They come with the case, depending on the mounting mechanism some are tooless and just clip in place.

The screws will come with the case most of the time. The reason why is that it would be sort of wasteful to provide screws with drives(though I think some do have them) because certain cases require special screws to properly mount the drives.

They don't come with screws. Some retail packages might, along with a SATA cable and other accessories.

What Godlygamer23 said, typically either the case will come with the screws, or the case comes with a tools-free mechanism to install them, like a loading tray it clips into which then slides into the slot. As long as your case is coming from somewhere reputable, you should be good to go.

I bought a 4tb hdd at Best Buy rated for home use. It came with 4 screws.

Same with a 1tb caviar blue from Best Buy.

Bare drives don't come with hardware. Retail versions do.

Most drives don't come with them, if it's a mechanical drive i'd always recommend screws (some come with you case) because if you don't it's going to rattle and drive you crazy, it won't damage the drive it'll just damage your brain xD if it's an SSD you'll be fine, they're near silent
