Rumor: Asus prepares Strix ITX mobos for AM4 socket

just_dave
Quote

It looks like ASUS are finally set to enter this ITX AM4 motherboard arena this聽October with two new Strix series ITX motherboards, both of which are overclocking ready and utilise AMD's B350 and Z370 chipsets respectively.聽

These who upcoming motherboards are the ROG Strix X370-I Gaming and the ROG Strix B350-I Gaming, though sadly neither of these motherboards has been pictured by the company.聽

So on OC3D.net聽is some information about Asus preparing Strix mITX AM4 motherboards. They should come in October.

I won麓t comment about any specs but i would expect high quality VRM, because its Asus and mIX.

I would predict that X370 will have 6 phase with CSD87350, B350 maybe the 4 phase (onsemi)/ 4 IR3555

I wonder what the prices are for these new motherboards because generally X370 boards are expensive. The B350 variant should be a great budget option for Mini ITX builders. I particularly like the aesthetic design as well as all of the features it packs in such a small form factor.

Knowing ASUS, their VRMS are always good quality.

If they could make a cheap A320 board I would be so happy. Dont need overclocking for ITX anyway. Otherwise have to go with team blue for an ITX build.

ASRock screwed up the VRM cooling. There is like kilometer of thermal pad under the heatsink

Asrock has been delivering excellent components for the price vs all the other manufacturers.聽

Just look at the x370 taichi's vrms vs Asus, it's not even a competition. Although Asus definitely has a better uefi...聽

Iv read up on that , isnt that issue fixed by now ? Something along the lines of either Asrock sends you the rectified heatsink , or the newer boards have it fixed from factory聽

No, A320 has very limited memory speed, so it will bottleneck your CPU

Well, i wouldnt overclock R7 1700 on it, try to use a push down cooler like the Wraith, so it cools VRM as well.

I would wait for Asus, i am very happy with mine.

Multi GPU centric chip for a board that can only take a single graphics card.

Released many months after Ryzen launch.

Holy shit, why is AMD's side so bad at SFF? We should have had at least 3-4 itx boards at launch with the B350 chipset.

I kind of dont understand your choice of having $200 CPU and $200 mobo. . .

Feature set that is usually standard on itx boards ironically that are overpriced on atx counterparts. Had AMD actually had itx boards, I wouldn't have.

At least it make more sense than someone who pairs an i5 with an overpriced AIO with RGB.

What? I was referring to networking options.

The VRM situation with the itx 6700k rig is more than聽sufficient.

Intel can do itx, AMD is lagging behind every step of the way for those who want to do compact builds. Nothing will change the fact those who wanted to suppprt AMD this gen and go itx were shafted.
