infinity fabric is AMD's name for their intra-core connecting bus. it is how the cores communicate with one another, as well as other devices such as RAM and PCI-E. It's bus speed is determined by the memory speed and latency, so if frequency in the memory is high and the latency is low, the bus is at its fastest performance allowing the cores to work most efficiently together and with the rest of the computer.

Ryzen CPUs essentially have 2 dies inside, and Infinity Fabric connects them. The faster your RAM, the faster these two 'cpus' can communicate, increasing performance.

haha, Sure, if you like.... John Cena's fist is more like overclocking the RAM to squeeze more juice from the orange and pass it through the infinity fabric faster

How about this? I kind of mashed together the 2 lists I was given? The PC I have now uses that Thermaltake case and I really don't like it, the cable management's horrible and the airflow isn't that great either. I've also seen the Kinguin Windows keys are pretty genuine (I know Paul'sHardware did a vid practically promoting it ) so for like an extra £30 I'm only marginally over budget which is do-able

Decent, but I'd aim for a 1x8GB stick of 3000MHz RAM so that you can get 16GB easily in the future. Leave out the cooler for now, only get it if the stock one ends up too loud, it's pretty good up to 3.7GHz

What about a compromise? Maybe a single 8GB stick and a Hyper 212? Are they compatible with the AM4 socket?

Looks good! There aren't too many options for 1x8GB sticks at 3000Mhz, so if they want the higher frequency (which i think is a must) it'll have to be 2x4GB (not at all a bad option). I chose that cooler for OP as it will allow the full overclocking potential whilst keeping a lot quieter than the stock one. the stock cooler is very good given that it is free and doesn't sound like a jet engine - but its no whisper quiet design either. and since OP does sound work, i feel it is critical that a bit of premium of cost for the cooler will be better for them since noise is a key concern.

hyper 212 are compatible, but can be a little loud (i know from owning one). it is very good at keeping things cool though... (you'll have to check compatibility with your case for a 212 evo due to it being a lot taller than the Cryorig one i suggested)

edit: excuse me, i got it wrong, it does only have 2 slots, i was looking at a different board... any chance you could get a b350 matx board with 4 ram slots?

Nah he's right it only has 2 I guess for the extra £20 I can guarantee myself room to add more Ram along the line and not have to worry about getting completely different modules altogether?
