My 1080GTX doesnt run more than 60Hz

Adept

Hey there Folks,

since i couldnt find any other Forum/Board or else to get helped with my problem i thought, why  not try it here.

So lately i swapped out my old Asus 670 GTX for a GB Aorus 1080 GTX (rev2.0)

What i first noticed when i finished installing the 1080 GTX, i cannot get beyond 60HZ @1080p anymore!

I was using DVI-DL Cable (now i tried with DP->DVI-DL which didnt change anything) My Monitor is the BenQ Zowie XL2411 (which ran perfectly on 144Hz with my 670GTX and DVI-DL)

Now even in the Nvidia Settings i cannot go beyond 60Hz, even trying to make a custom resolution wouldnt help!

I've tried 3 diffrent DVI-DL Cables. I've the latest Nvidia Drivers, latest Monitor drivers.. Any ideas?

And yes, this is german so dont wonder.

Thanks you guys 144.jpg.5aee618e13ef9951780b3c9aae9d90e3.jpg

Yes, i've wiped everything with DriverCleaner Pro and reinstalled the latest drivers (actually both cards use the same Driver version)

Also wiped the Monitor Drivers and reinstalled them. Also did a reset to factory settings on the Display.

Monitor Drivers? What do you mean Monitor Drivers?

Have you tried rolling back to an earlier driver version to see if that works?

Those are in the GPU Drivers. Normally you don't need Display Drivers as they are part of your GPU Drivers. Idk what kind of Display the Zowie display is but it shouldn't need it's own drivers separate from the GPU Drivers.

It could be related to VSync but I'd be surprised if that's enabled by default.

the Monitor has DVI-I and HDMI input, it was always plugged with DVI since only HDMI 1.3+ support 120HZ (doesnt know what HDMI 2.0b supports yet)

but im using a DP(into the GC) to DVI (into the Display) currently. Bought it to try if something changes.

Try the Nvidia Control Panel. There might be a setting there for that.

Are you able to plug in a DP to DP cable into your Display? That would be ideal for greater than 60Hz gaming.

I'm using DP cable with my PG279Q 144Hz and works perfectly.

Try and use a different DP on your graphics card maybe? And use a DP to DP cable directly.

as i already wrote, the display only has HDMI and DVI, so no. But i've plugged the DP site to any exit on the GTX1080, which made no difference at all.

Maybe try uninstalling GPU drivers with DDU (display driver uninstaller).
I would also like some clarification on what cable you are using https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

I am little confused about what you are pluggin into what. You tried DVI-D on your monitor and on your GPU with a full DVI-D cable? Didn't work?

Pretty sure the only thing I tinkered with were the Graphics drivers for my strix 1080Ti, even my PG279Q was plug and ready to go with a bit of tweaking on Nvidia Control Panel for the high Hz. and i'm on version 384.94.

Maybe a shot in the dark (idk Nvidia Control panel) but right click Desktop, go to Display Settings, down to Display Adapter Properties. Check in both the List All Modes button and also the Monitor tab for your resolution and supported refresh rate

Edit: disregard...you've already done that I see

I wiped all drivers multiple times, tried several DVI-DL(DUAL LINK!!!) cables (yes im aware of all the cable types! Single Link, Dual Link, Analog, Digital !!!!)

For now i tried with an Displayport to DVI-DL cable (dp on the GPU side, DVI-DL on the Display side) and i tried every DP port on my GPU
