Is it okay to overclock a laptop?

Less than even 0.1% of laptops on the market are designed with overclocking in mind. Not only will you be introducing temperature related issues, you can even damage the power delivery, and damage the power adapter as you'll most likely force the system to draw more power than it was designed for. 

 

The slight performance gains isn't worth potentially blowing up your laptop and power adapter.

I have a gaming laptop and I am wondering if it is possible to overclock my laptop.

it maters which one some have enough cooling to allow you to due so others you shouldn't

Yes it is okay to, if the laptop dosen't even hear 90C. Todays laptops don't tend to overheat a lot, older laptops love heat. My first thread I made was showing progress of my massive OC on a laptop, I think I broke the OC record, tomorrow i will link the thread, im sleepy and well, tommorrow the hurricane come to my home land... I wish nothing bad happens. Good night/day.

Some are designed for it but the vast majority are not... in fact many can't even cool themselves sufficiently under normal loads, so overclocking would be totally out of the question.  And that's just with regard to heat, we haven't even begun looking into power requirements yet...

Possible, probably. But I'd only recommend it when pulling power off the wall.

I wouldn't on laptops its pretty dangerous and small performance gains isnt worth the strain on the battery.
