Is a 430w PSU enough for my GTX 1080?

Sails

A decent 430w PSU would be enough, that PSU, on the other hand, is garbage, so no.

Put this way if u can spend 700-800aud in a graphics card why cant you spend a decent amount on a quality psu?

id say corsair rm650x or evga supernova g2 650w for starters. They are about 120-150aud+

Just today we had someone post about them plugging in a fairly nice rig and having the entire thing fry because they didn't listen and bought a shit-tacular PSU. Do yourself a favor and get something better.

The 550W versions of both will work very well for anything non SLI

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

The PSU will probably do fine under lower loads (think 1050TI and a locked quad). Start pigtailing molex to PCIe connectors, and you are like to be pushing your luck with this tier of PSU.

Yes, that one will work also although I like having a little bit of headroom imo. Since operating around the 50-60% mark is most ideal. take 10aud off... is still quite good proposition for value.

Spend the extra $10 to get the 600W version. Then again I also wouldn't pair an i5 4460 with a GTX 1080 and 8GB of ram. It looks like you're set up for a mid range GTX 1060 system then randomly threw a 1080 in there. It looks very out of place in what is otherwise a solid mid range build. I mean with my 3570k at 4.4ghz I feel bottlenecked in most games with my 1080 @ 1440p.

However to answer what you asked: it will probably work, the PSU will be running at 100% whenever you're gaming and if you OC the GPU you're really running in the red and may even break something. I would spend an extra 15% on the PSU for the peace of mind.

Why would you combine a 500$ graphics card with a 15$ Power Supply?!

I don't understand that people save that much on power supply - and then wonder why the system is not stable, has some random lockups and other quirks. Some of that shit can be related to a bad power supply...
