Razer tries to make a "cheap" laptop and releases their new Full HD Blade Pro 17"

The butthurt is real in this thread.

Because $2300 for a machine like this is ridiculous.

Right now, I can get an Alienware 17 R4 for the same price.

It has the 7820HK like the UHD version of the Blade, an overclocked GTX 1080 and a QHD display with G-SYNC. You do lose out on RAM and storage, but those can be easily upgraded.

I'm not a fan of either, but you know which one I'd rather have at that price...

This is just a bad move on Razer.... yeah peope will still buy it because it's Razer

Do they sell well? I've never seen one; in fact I wouldn't even know Razer made things other than ugly peripherals if it wasn't because of these laptops showing nlup at some LTT videos.

However, my personal experience doesn't mean much, so... Do they sell well?

I don't really think so, when I used to take programming classes at college the majority of laptops were Samsung, Acer and DELL... from 36 students only one had a Razer branded laptop and I do recall he complaining about it xD

peripherals though are quite common even though I would never buy a Mice that isn't from Corsair/Logitech myself.

They sell better than most other gaming brand laptops, but that's because it's Razer. People who don't know any better think if the word Razer is on it then it's high quality. Razer is pretty much the Apple of Windows based laptops. Overpriced and not actually worth the money you pay for them. I just think if they would make a decently priced consumer grade laptop they would have better laptop sales. The quality of their laptops isn't bad but it's not worth the $2500 premium you have to pay for something you can get elsewhere for about $1500-$1700.

Yup. There was a video on YouTube of a person who travelled to Hong Kong to try and build an iPhone. He spent much much less to do it because the parts were readily available. Imagine what would happen with Razer.

By the way, a similarly specced model of the Blade 14" costs $1899 USD versus $2299. i don't think it's worth the extra over the standard Blade 14.

I agree. The 14" is what I would want to get. And it's only $1899.. It's not worth the extra price for a bigger screen Imo.

The thing is, I hear "Apple" and I know what it means, and I only buy PCs. I hear "Razer Blade" and just think someone misspelled "razor blade" :P I had no clue they had any brand name whatsoever, but maybe it is a regional market thing.

*only $1899 for a 14" laptop with a 1060, and if you get 4k it is $2400 for the base.

No gsync for when frames get lower then 60fps equals no buy. Especially when I just bought a Asus laptop for 1620 including tax and two day shipping that has a 120hz gsync with a i7 770hq and a 1070.

Based on the size of the Stores selling Razer stuff in Hong Kong, I'd say they don't sell ridiculous amounts. I would count on Dell, HP or even Asus to sell significantly more laptops than Razer.

if cheaping out on quality, dell inspiron does a pretty good job for under 1k, even for performance alienware is cheaper and better quality and you get both AGA and thunderbolt.

MBPs may be pricey but at least the exterior quality is good, the electronics on the other hand is questionable. People buy apple for the convenience and not the cult mostly.
