It's weird, because after using my iPad Pro 12.9, even the normal iPad looks too small for me.

Apple not spending time and effort on an old device, you can see the i phone 4 lags and glitches on IOS 7 compared to its native OS.

I would look at the iPhone 5 in iOS 10, Apple seemed to have improved in that regard.

what about the note 8? It looks pretty promising, and by promising I mean it wont blow up

Ready to spend $930 for the Note 8 which by the way, doesn't use NVME.

Here are some of the highlights of Android “O”

  • Improved customized notifications
  • More control over background running applications
  • Several new keyboard features
  • Improved adaptive icons
  • Better cache handling
  • Several new gestures

Samsung

  • Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus(G955,G955FD)

So as an S8+ owner, is there any real reason to be excited over this, or is this just more background improvments i probably wont realize are there?

Looking at Huawei device list, Honor 9 may not get the next update (android 9)

That's why I'm probably going for the G6 instead

Why should it use NVMe? The industry standard is UFS and no cheap NVMe solutions exist for phones. There is not any noticeable difference between the two.

Almost guarantee the latter. If not, an overall decrease in user experience.

What about Nexus 5? :(

Huh, I've been wondering too. I have a Nextbit Robin with the same specs (save for having an extra gig of Ram on the Robin). If that can run Oreo, any flagship device from after 2015 should be supported.

Hardware specs does not really matter when it comes to updates. What matters is if the manufacturer puts in the time and money necessary to custom tailor the new OS to work on that specific phone.

Smartphones aren't like x86 devices where you just download a generic OS and everything works. They need to create a model-specific distro of the OS.

Really sucks that phones don't get more than 2 major release upgrades really. I know there are more models to cover but still, at least flagship devices.

It took ages for my S7 to receive Android 7.0, did not expect it to ever get 8.0, so I guess that's nice. But it is also sad that it wouldn't be unlikely to not get it..
