RX 480 Bottlenecking Question

ksalak

I currently have one RX480 in my PC with an AMD FX 8350. I recently bid on another card (same exact one) to be able to crossfire.

After some research, I found that crossfiring on FX is a joke. So my question is

WILL A RYZEN 3 1300X BOTTLENECK MY TWO 480s?

Thanks.

Yes, it would bottleneck, but SLI isn't a good option at the moment.

Then you may want to get an i7 7700K, it's the best CPU for high refresh rate gaming. ;)

It probably would. If anything you'd be better off selling you're 480 and buying a 1080 or something.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Then can you throw me together a MOBO/RAM/CPU Combo under $750?

I've got a Ryzen 5 1500X w/ 2 480s.  (moved one over when I got my 1080 Ti for my main PC)  Together, 3DMark Time Spy scored just high enough that it fit in the 4K Gaming PC category.  The Ryzen 3 definitely wouldn't get rated that high, and I suspect it would indeed be a bottleneck.

As @PCGuy_5960 wrote, that i7-7700K build would give you fantastic gaming performance.  If you don't already have one, I'd recommend an M.2 NVMe boot drive though.
