What's the DPI in a Mouse?

Might sounds like a very Noobish question, and it is. I literally don't know what DPI is in a mouse. Is it precision or something? Never really cared about that since I never owned expensive branded Mice, I always owned some bad Chinese boys and it looks like DPIs really matters in gaming Mice since Higher is better right? Correct me if I'm wrong

Dots per Inch, indicates how far your mouse travels on your screen when moved one inch on your mousepad. (higher dpi can indicate a more precise scanner build in)

Dpi is Dots per Inch... so that many dots on screen is travelled per inch you have moved the mouse. So a lower Dpi is required for precision.
