Audio cutting frequently on my speaker

katoptrys

I use a small bluetooth speaker (Bose Soundlink Mini 2) as a soundbar for my computer (I have a small room and the audio quality is good). I have it connected via a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable due to my laptop's lack of bluetooth or it not working (note that I use the laptop with a separate display, keyboard and mouse, almost as if it were a desktop).

The audio frequently cuts when playing anything, music, movie or game. Turning it off and on again works temporarily, same as unplugging the cable on any end and reconnecting it. My phone with the exact same cable has no issues, and headphones on the same audio jack work well.
Should I get a new cable, or is it likely this is the laptop's audio jack failing?
