how much of an advantage does a display port have over HDMI?

Depends on what displayport version, what HDMI version, what monitor reolution, and what monitor refresh rate.

Nothing, it will work fine with HDMI 1.4 which is what your GPU will have (at the minimum).

No advantage, just can be used for situations where HDMI can't be used (depending on version) such as 4K 60 Hz if you only have HDMI 1.4.

If your monitor's resolution is within the capabilities of both, then there's no difference.
