PC is drawing TOO LITTLE power?

PSU is a 750w G2.

 

I've got a 6700K and a GTX 1080Ti FTW3, as well as very power hungry PCIE SSD. Running furmark fullscreen under the stress test mode and pegging the CPU at full load with aida64, I'm seeing an absolute max power draw of only 400w from the wall. This seems rather low to me. Anandtech's testing says furmark should reach almost 400w alone on a founders edition 1080Ti, let alone an aftermarket one like the EVGA FTW3.

 

My 6700K is running pretty close to stock, about 4.2ghz.

 

All drivers are up to date. Anyone know why the power draw is so strangely low? I've even got about 15w of fans running on this since I currently could care less about noise, and this case only takes 92mm fans lol

You're not always going to hit what reviewers say, but try "High Performance" or as I named it "Screw the power bill".

I don't know how that conclusion was reached (perhaps it was for their whole testbed) but that would be nuts.

I don't own a 1080ti, but I'd expect it to peak in the mid-high 200s in terms of power draw. Maybe a bit over 100W for the CPU if you did OC. Not much goes into the other components tbh, so I could totally see what you're getting as normal.

Anandtech measures total system power draw from the wall. A 1080ti should never use 400w itself. Nvidia limits their cards power draw in terms of TDP. Even at 120% limit the power draw will only be 300W.

As far as i know the 1080ti is the most power hungry part of your build. Everything else from what you say is pretty low power comparatively. You may just have gotten lucky with your card although 400w for the 1080ti seems high. CPU shouldn't be drawing over 100w due to what it is even OC'd and that would be the next most hungry part. Also Nvidias 10 series IS pretty power efficient.

 

Comparitively I have a 4790k Oc'd to 4.5, a 480 Oc'D to 1400, 3 70w dell monitors, 2 amps with multiple speakers on each and a network switch. Total power draw for me comes in at under 550w for all that.... (switch alone is 50+w)

 

Chances are you will never hit the listed power draw of any device. Those numbers are usually embellished a bit to give headroom and protect from lawsuits

your cpu has a designed apx TDP of 91Watts 

your gpu has a designed apx TDP of 250watts

 

your power draw seems perfectly fine and normal

Your PSU is plenty. You're measuring from the wall draw right? Your unit is 80 PLUS Gold so do that math to determine how much power the system is drawing versus from the wall.

For a 1080 and i5 at 1.3 I'd be surprised if you were even drawing 300W.

I think my Kill-a-watt might be bad after the LTT Corsair rep said something similar. My local Lowe's AND Home Cheapot don't carry Kill-a-watts...

380W from the wall isn't unheard of but the actual system isn't drawing that much is what I'm saying :)

Think of it more of "PC needs power, PSU wastes some power from the AC outlet. The ones that waste less power get higher 80 PLUS ratings."
