Final Fantasy XV confirmed for PC in early 2018

Since I've seen many people here hoping it will get released on PC, I decided to post this news.

Today the game was confirmed on Gamescom by Square Enix and Nvidia to come in early 2018 on Windows Store, Steam and Origin.

Many people may be skeptical because it will support Nvidia Gameworks, and I am as well, but here's to hoping it will all turn out well. The console version runs very smoothly even on a PS4 Slim so I hope it will be ported and optimized properly. While we're at it, it will not be a straight up copy paste port, it will have quite few upgrades:

Quote

The big reveal happened at Nvidia’s press event today during Gamescom in Germany, with the PC version of the hit console game expected for Windows 10, Steam and Origin.

The port boasts “4K high res textures, Dolby Atmos, realistic turf, advanced hair simulation, combustible fluid, fire and smoke simulation, advanced shadow alogrithmns, high quality ambient occlusion, Ansel screenshots,” and more.

Final Fantasy 15 Windows Edition will be released in “early 2018” and will include all DLC released for the game so far.

Watch the reveal demo.

Anyone interested in open world RPGs (not on a Witcher scale but still big) and who likes real time fights instead of usual Final Fantasy turn based system should check the game. I know I've been loving it since day 1.

I'm also interested to see if the upcoming multiplayer will support cross play on both consoles and PC and different PC clients.

Dear Nvidia, please stop using Gimpworks libraries and stop ruining games with them. Or open them to devs so they actually don't run like sh*t.

Sincerely, Gamers.

Another game with HairWorks, let's see whether it'll halve the performance again like in The Witcher 3...

Hairworks can be turned off (I have to turn that off in the Witcher 3 as well despite having a 1070 because my CPU is too weak) to give better performance.

Seriously Gameworks is terrible (even though I own a Nvidia graphics card) because I can't even use PhyX particles in Assassin's Creed Black Flag (yes, an old game) because it kills fps like it kills AMD card performance.

Played a proper game in a PC: You cant get back to consoles (so screw console-only games)

The problem is that this not only cripples AMD performance, but also on Nvidia's own GPUs, I don't really see the point of using GW if you need SLI Titan Xps to even get decent performance with minimal visual quality improvement :S

Its nice to finally get this confirmed by SE. I've been wanting to play it but it wasn't a great experience with the console restrictions of under 30fps and xbone controller only and no remapping.

I wonder if we'll see any modding support like the game's director wanted in one of the old interviews.

Gotta love having an older graphics card powerful enough to handle PhysX and anything CUDA accelerated on its own while your main card does everything else.

Doesn't help me though, since I forced the GPU to handle PhyX but CPU still bottlenecks.

I wish they add option to transfer save files. Would love to play the DLC and expansions on PC.

Probably cause I've gotten used to Gsync 144hz, the 30 or even 20 FPS / stutters are horrible

the difference is:

HairWorks -> Nvidia

HairFX -> AMD

I know that AMD used their tech in TR2013 but I though the new TR uses NVIDIA tech.

ROTTR doesn't have HairWorks. It's PureHair, and yes, I believe it's much, much better but it has nothing to do with Nvidia.

Also, you've got a 1080Ti which is goddamn fast, I've got a 980Ti (the flagship GPU when TW3 was released) and I cannot do the same at the same resolution...

Awesome, so long as it runs at at least a stable 60fps.

If they really want to impress me (they don't), maybe they'll fix the story pacing, such as by giving me a reason to care about Luna, or her brother, (probably won't). Still gonna buy it though, if the performance is good. Although I'll be waiting for a good sale before buying, cause I'm stingy like that - how much of a sale I'll wait for depends on whether they fix the story.

They call it Pure Hair but it still a derivative from AMD TressFX 3.0 iirc.
