vega Vega Price Hike

Hi,

Few months ago, I was about to buy a RX 580 card.But,it vanished out of the market so quickly that I couldn't buy it.So, I decided to buy a Vega 56 card.

Currently, I'm seeing that many websites is talking about a price hike...

According to my knowledge, GPU price drops within a month of release.But this time it's increasing.

So, should I buy or order a Vega card right now or wait a month or two.(My budget is extremely tight.)

Vega was an absolute mess. The power draw is mad, and it barely competes with the 1070. Especially taking into consideration the price hike, I would suggest a GTX 1070, or you could wait for Volta.

I actually think the 56 is better than a 1070 because of FreeSync and also it does beat it out in a few games and should get better over time. 

but if power is expensive where you live get a 1070

Thing is, an nVidia card will work with freesync, at least the adaptive sync. Your variable refresh rate won't work, but imo its worth it. Major killer of the vega cards are the insane power draws which (for people upgrading at least) requires a larger psu. Larger PSU = $$$

Power is  not a problem.but I've to change the PSU....

and personally I don't like NVIDIA because of it's performance drop.

performance drop only happens when gameworks features are turned on, like hairworks, heavy tessellation etc. Turn those off and it will be fine.

 

How tight is your budget? Just like any new card, Vega is expensive as [profanity], so GTX 1070 or 980ti is what you can afford.

1) In all the reviews I've seen, the 56 trades blows with the 1070, and 1070 prices are extemely inflated (THANKS YOU FUCKING MINORS) and both are no where to be found

2) Volta is nowhere in sight, and Nvidia has no reason to release it any time soon.

Right now, The low end (1050/1050ti) or the used market is going to be your best bet. Or sit there watching online retailers and buy as soon as it shows something in stock.

1. "minor" actually means someone else, so this is a bad joke. Also, unlike RX 580s, you can still find 1070s easily, though not at a good price.

 

2. Nvidia releases a new lineup of cards every 2 years, and Pascal is over a year old now. We should see news and leaks on Volta soon.

Agree with BluJay here. You don't even need Freesync support on the monitor for adaptive sync to work.

We already have news on Volta from Nvidia themselves. They specifically said its not coming any time soon.

Pascal's a year and 3 months old, so there's still 9 months for Nvidia to prepare Volta's release. They announced Pascal officially 3 weeks before release. so it's natural for them to keep their mouths shut on this topic

The Vega 56 is releasing on the 28th. AMD has said they're going to do as much as they can to keep the prices at MSRP. Also, the Vega 56 undervolted is a very, very good card. It brings power consumption down to a little above a 1070 and the card performs around a 1080.

Hmm I didnt. Thanks for the link. I got cut off from the internet for days because the cable in the apartment building stopped working, but it took 3 days for the management company to fix the dam cable.
