Using igpu and dgpu simultaneously on one monitor

adibhaniff

I have an aoc ips 1080p 60hz monitor with vga and dvi connection. Currently, i connected my 1070 strix using dvi to the monitor. However, can i connect the intel gpu on my i5 7500 to the same monitor using vga. Can i duplicate the display? If i were to mine on the 1070 when not gaming, the youtube would be stuttering sometimes bcoz of the heavy load on gpu. So, to avoid that, can i duplicate my display just by using the same monitor by switching the source of display from dvi to vga and use the igpu instead for smoother results? As u all know, kaby lake igpu has integrated support for 4k decoding. Such a waste if i did not use it. Btw, i'm currently using asrock b250m-hdv motherboard. Can my idea be realized? Can both of the gpus be used on the same monitor at the same time?

no. you can not use the IGPU aswell as a dedicated graphics card as far as i am aware.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I mean... Where do I start.

Your goal is to say mildly: "idiotic".

  1. You want to duplicate the screen with a different display adapter
  2. You want two outputs (which are the same) to be shown on 1 screen?

Just don't mine when you don't want it to stutter.

Thanks for the reply mate.

The same monitor. But from the monitor i can choose the source of video whether from dvi or vga. If vga from the intel igpu. Dvi from the strix. Not at the same time. But either one at one time.

Sorry if it sounds stupid. Just asking around for opinion. I just want to know whether its possible or not.
