Best Phone For $300

My dad is looking to buy a new phone because his phone recently broke, his budget is $300, what is the best smartphone in that budget?

He doesn't really care, he will only use it to browse the web, a good camera would be nice to have though.

OnePlus 3/3T perhaps or an Axon 7 like what @cdsboy2000 said. They're last gen but they're last gen flagships basically.

 

Or perhaps something like a moto G5 or G5+. They're a bit under budget so I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.

I would suggest the Note 4 or Nexus 5X. Though these phones may be a bit dated, they have very repetubale specs for their age. I personally own a Nexus 5X, and I absolutely love the stock experience, along with the great camera and rear fingerprint sensor.

During sales the Honor 8 hits around $289.99. It's the best or one of the best phones in that price range.

The Note 4 will no longer receive OS updates, but the Nexus 5X still has another year out of it. Both of these phones will perform well for another two years, which is great considering how inexpensive they are.

I think the G5s Plus is the best bet...unless he can fork out a little more, then my vote fully goes to the Moto Z Play.

$300 is kind of the price point where you're juuuust short of getting something significantly better.

The camera in the 5X outperformed many of the sub-$300 smartphones currently available on the market. Compared to my Galaxy S5, the camera in this phone is far superior. Of course, it does not stack up to the Pixel or S8.

I'd highly recommend a used iPhone SE. A 64gb model can be found on eBay for around 290 dollars. I own one personally, and it's a fantastic device. Super smooth, snappy, and the camera is downright stunning (imo).
