If i use ram that is incompatible with my ryzen mobo how bad will it be affected ?

Well.

You get slower RAM.

That's about it.

Almost no performance differences.

Just slower RAM.\

That's it.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Hows it incompatible? If its not on qvl it just means they never tested it. My memory config wasnt on the memory qvl (the 2x4 model was) and it runs at the 2800 xmp, and its rated for 2666. Plus even if you cant get 2666+ with xmp you can manually tweak timings. If you like the look, go for it.

It's different for RYZEN.Ryzen relies on fast RAM speed for it's Ifinity fabric so there are some FPS gains with fast RAM compared to intel

The ram may not be incompatible. As @Abyss Gaming said, it may've just not been tested.

Truly incompatible ram (such as some of the first ddr4 ram made by crucial - I've tried) will bsod giving messages such as "memory management", invalid irq, and quite a few others.

With a 1080 at 1080p. If using a 1060/1070 at 1080p the difference will be much closer above 2666.
