Getting a low FPS on my EVGA 1080TI Intel 4790k Build [Benchmarks and Spec Screenshots Provided]

Summary

So, I recently upgraded my system replacing my dual 970s with a 1080 Ti EVGA FTW Edition. Along with the new card, I installed an AIO instead of the cheap Intel stock cooling fan and a Corsair HX 750w PSU because of the modular cables. Before this upgrade, all my parts were running up-to-spec. I believe I am getting a lower FPS than I should be, but I would also love some input from someone a little more experienced than I am. Below are my current specs. I believe I am running the most up-to-date bios version also (excuse the large pictures I couldn't figure out how to make them smaller).

BIOS Version
{"ALASKA - 1072009", "BIOS Date: 02/16/16 09:38:11 Ver: V1.13B0"}

Overwatch

I believe I should EASILY be hitting the 300 FPS cap on my system, but I seem to be stuck around the 150 FPS mark. Here are two Fraps benchmarks [60 seconds] and the graphics settings I was using. These were performed during a multiplayer match with lots of action.599847f50e78f_OverwatchGraphicsSettings.thumb.PNG.9a7805ccd843d9f57a2e74937a7266ca.PNG

Benchmarks

2017-08-19 09:50:55 - Overwatch
Frames: 9402 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 156.700 - Min: 126 - Max: 204

2017-08-19 09:52:59 - Overwatch
Frames: 9522 - Time: 60000ms - Avg: 158.700 - Min: 132 - Max: 199

Rise of the Tomb Raider

I'm not exactly sure what my system should be getting on a triple-A game like this, but I included it to be thorough. I used the in-game benchmark and screenshotted the results. Here are the settings I used along with the results.

Conclusion

During these benchmarks, my graphics card was hitting 100% usage and my CPU was getting pretty close to 100% also. Temps seemed pretty normal and I couldn't find anything out of the ordinary besides the framerate. Thank you for taking the time to help me solve my problem. Please leave any tips or question you have below and I would be happy to answer them. Also, I would love to run some more benchmarks/test if these aren't enough. I could provide a video of the benchmarks being done with the actual live temps, usage etc... Oh and this is my first post to any thread on the LTT Forums so I hope I did well.

You're likely hitting the CPU ceiling in both. Downside is that unless you're pushing an overclock, that's about as far as you'll get. Upside is that you can ramp up whatever the hell you want, as you already are doing.

So if I'm already pushing this CPU, which I purchased 3 years ago now, would upgrading the CPU to something like a 7700k be smart if I wanted to get maximum performance out of my 1080 TI?

Eh. It would be an upgrade but not a large one.

Let someone else be the judge of that and not me.

Check your driver panel settings, make sure vsync is disabled and make sure its set to max performance, do the same under power options in windows

if you also compare your Syria run to mine above, your minimum is right down at 31 FPS.

Try loading default settings, disable vsync, load ultra and run it again

Thank you so much for the tips! Unfortunately I will be in Chicago for the next few days away from home, so I will have to get back to you and see if any of this works. It is really strange though and I would like to fix it. Thanks again!

Thanks for helping me out dude. This is really bothering me. So, I ran the benchmark again and did what you said (+ a fresh ddu). These are the results along with the settings I used. If you could follow up with the settings you use, or just compare them yourself, and see if this is starting to make more sense. Thanks again!599c3e2dddec4_tombd.PNG.0447cf549a902df80c19f3b5a4c1d0aa.PNG599c3e2ea6af0_tombg.PNG.ce976b71aea1b9c97fbfd3c14c54ab47.PNGresults.thumb.png.330b33c441cecdb403098e3db893bb36.png

FXAA VS x4 SSAA

I did a run today with the same settings your 1080P (but still 1440P) and hit 101.7 FPS. Id say that's about right for you

Thanks man. I did not realize the stress a high AA setting put on the card. I just assumed that the card could handle the MAX setting so I just cranked everything all the way up.
