Android O launching August 21

If Intel's announcement of 8th generation CPUs competing with the total solar eclipse in North America wasn't enough, you can also add the launch for Android "O" to the list. Preview test versions have existed for some time, but let's see how quickly it gets released to the masses. I hope my 5X isn't too old to get it.

 

Personally, if I were within reach of the line of totality of the eclipse, I'd prioritise that as chances don't happen often unless you make a big effort on travel. Partial eclipses are less rare and relatively meh. Tech comes and goes.

no that is the OS version. Here is a screen shot from android studio showing all versions and their API levels. As you can see O does not stand for oreo, it stands for Oprah.

lol my smartphone still uses Version 4.4 .I did not know that so many exist. I don't care about my smartphone at all.

It is tempting to sell my S8 and get a Pixel phone or something so I can get the updates faster. Why, if I pay so much money for a phone, can they not update it on time (within a week)?

So OEMs can fix the bullshit and the abortion that is a new version release of Android, at least fix it as much as they can without breaking agreements with Google in the process.

Heck, with Transformer Prime TF201 I managed to get a stable build of Android 7.1.2 for it (Katkiss has given it new life), and its in the minority of up to date devices.

Sad thing i won't know if my note 2will receive O cause i gave it to my brother in law a couple of months ago, gave it with Nougat installed, increased to minimum frequency from 200Mhz to 600Mhz for responsiveness, undervolted a bit for battery and temp, set max freq from 1600 to 2000, pegasus governor as default, always use 4 cores and voila: a phone from 2012 that runs fines with the latest Android version without any sort of lag.
